This stew was not your average Iowa Beef Stew (my roots) but thought it was delicious in its unique way. What I really, really, really enjoyed was the Pain d’épices. Would this make a nice hostess gift at Christmas – mini loaves of Pain d’épices dressed up for the holidays? Must get busy. Katie, Alaia (aka Noodles) and Marcel are in Cambria for a quick getaway and are coming to lunch. I’m sorry that I have to miss this week’s assignment. I was having fever for a few days and was not feeling all that well after that. The hot and humid weather here is not helping much either! All I want is light meals. Will try the stew on other days!

Rookie mistake! Ready the recipe Friday afternoon and finding out there is just not enough time to complete it on the same day…but we enjoyed our stew on Saturday with friends instead!
