April Nominations

ETA: Thanks all for the nominations.  See the poll below.  Choose your two favorites and we’ll post the schedule by Friday!

It’s that time again! Our posts for April will be on April 1 and April 15.**

Please nominate 2 recipes of your choice. If you’d like some more guidance here, the 3 chapters from which we’ve only cooked 1 recipe each so far are Appetizers, First Courses, and Desserts. Choosing from them could help us evenly approach the book to this point (and a big thank you to Cher for putting together a document to keep track). That said, you are more than welcome to nominate any recipe you choose from the book, minus the pantry chapter.

We will close nominations on Tuesday, the 22nd, and get the poll up on that day so we can have a schedule by Friday, the 25th (at the latest).

 

**April has created a bit of an admin quandary! Since our roots are in a group that cooked through Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table, one of our considerations is to work around those who are baking through Baking Chez Moi. Another consideration is to be consistent. From here on out, we will always post 2 Fridays per month, the first and third Fridays. Rarely, it may overlap with a BCM post, but this way we can maintain our schedules in a consistent manner! Thanks for your patience on this and apologies for any confusion. I’ve updated the Rules page accordingly.

  1. My husband got his hands on the book the other day and wondered aloud when we were going to get around to some of the desserts. I pointed out to him that the spice bread was technically in the dessert chapter, but he wasn’t buying it.

    So, my nominations are:
    1. Artichoke Tapenade with Rosemary Oil, page 53 (or, hopefully something similarly easy for the first recipe of the month since I will not be able to do any cooking over Easter weekend)
    2. Merveilleux, page 281

  2. I would go for something lighter and easier too for the first recipe, and agree with a dessert for the second one. Here’s my nomination :

    1. Baked Eggs with Kale and Smoked Salmon, pg 151
    2. Warm Chocolate Cake with Salted Butter Caramel Sauce, pg 262

  3. Here are three choices from me. I think the artichoke tapenade would be terrific for company (at Easter or otherwise if anyone is celebrating spring). The sandwich would fit busy schedules, and if people have ham leftover… and I think the sables sound delicious too. I’m sure whatever everyone decides will be wonderful.

  6. Mind if I join you all? I’ve been on a two year blogging hiatus, and stumbled upon this great group! Anyway, I had my book open to page 137, Ham and Cheese Sandwhich, and was ready to throw that in the ring. Great minds think alike. For the second, I choose the Artichoke Tapenade p. 53 because I love artichokes, and because I’m going with the flow.

  7. Just a note- is it possible to make the “vote now” a new post so it shows up in feed readers? This post does not show up in my feed reader when it’s edited because it’s already been published… (and I just happened to be closing tabs and saw this was edited!). Make sense? I don’t like to miss a thing! PS: how about a dessert this month ? 😉
